consolidated accounts as at 30 June 2010
Five years after first being listed on the stock market, Proximedia is forging ahead with its growth with an 8% increase in sales and services compared with June 2009, generating € 23.5 million in sales during the first 6 months compared with € 21.8 million over the same period in 2009.
EBITDA is up by 12% at € 7.7 million despite the operating profit of € 2.4 million, down by € 0.4 million compared with 30 June 2009.
The half-yearly result before taxes comes to € 2 million for a net profit of € 1.2 million compared with € 1.5 million in June 2009.
At the end of the first half year of 2010, the total balance sheet amounts to € 35. 2 million (compared with € 33.4 million at 30 June 2009) with equity capital of € 9.7 million, up by € 1.5 million.
The net debt/equity ratio has improved significantly, down from 2.88 to 2.35.
As at 30 June 2010, Proximedia Belgium had held its position as the group’s top company with a 6-month turnover from sales and services of € 11.2 million (+5% compared with June 2009).
The Bezoom subsidiary is continuing to gain market shares and is today well ahead of the field in Belgium within its segment. Over 6 months, it achieved € 7 million in sales and services, which translates as € 2 million more than over the same period in 2009.
Online Internet, the company that markets the BeUP concept, generated € 1.7 million in sales (+ 190 %).
Globule Bleu is holding up well to the relative freeze in marketing budgets decided by a great many large companies and achieved € 1.5 million in sales and services and managed to break even.
On the other hand, the results are falling off in France and in the Netherlands. This is to a large extent due to the reorganisation of the activity of these subsidiaries. The first half year therefore showed a deficit of € 0.1 million in France and € 0.2 million in the Netherlands.
The American subsidiary, whose figures do not yet make a significant contribution and that has therefore not been consolidated, nevertheless posted a positive half-yearly result of € 0.05 million.
Outlook for the second half of 2010 :
« As the companies Proximedia Belgium, Bezoom and Online Internet are essentially geared towards Belgium’s very dynamic small enterprise sector, they will continue to see a reasonable growth in most of their key figures. While the year on the whole is proving to be more difficult, Globule Bleu, which targets medium and large companies, should post a positive result.
In the Netherlands, the reorganisation launched during the 2nd half year of 2009 should start to bear fruit and despite the shortfall of the first half year, the subsidiary should break even at the end of the year.
Given the difficulties of developing the French market from Paris, we have opened a new subsidiary in Lyon marketing the Beup concept. We are also testing a new concept in Paris. These developments clearly call for investments both in financial terms and in terms of internal human resources, most of which are covered by the Group. »
Fabrice Wuyts, CEO, Proximedia Group.
